Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga encourages the proper alignment of the body and brings balance, strength, and calmness to the practitioner. The word “Hatha” is derived from the Sanskrit terms “ha” which means “sun” and “tha” which means “moon". Hatha Yoga focuses on the physical postures (asanas) and control of the breath. During a Hatha yoga session, the practitioner will move through a number of poses, holding them for varying amounts of time and working in a set order to ensure that muscle groups are slowly warmed up and evenly worked. Sun Salutations and Moon salutations are practiced in the class. Hatha yoga helps you to connect with your body, clear your mind and focus your attention inward. It improves flexibility in the spine and joints, promotes better balance and posture, increases metabolism, stimulates all the systems of the body, provides mental clarity, emotional stability and a physical sense of well-being.
